This is a visual presentation of Gynaecology illustrated aimed at undergraduate medical students. The highly effective format is ideal for examination preparation. Each page covers one topic with concise text and associated diagrams.
Previously under the authorship of Hart and Norman, the new author has comprehensively revised the sixth edition of this very popular student text. The titles in the illustrated series are valued by students because of their visual presentation of information and are particularly effective for examination preparations. For the more traditional courses this book will fulfill the role of a course text; for problem-based courses it will be an excellent resource for problem-solving exercises.

A 35-year-old woman arrives on the labour ward complaining of abdominal pain and vaginal bleeding at 36 weeks 2 days’ gestation. The pain started 2 hours earlier while she was in a cafe and is not relieved by lying still or walking around. The bleeding is bright red. You are the medic on duty…
100 Cases in Obstetrics and Gynaecology presents 100 obstetric- or gynaecology-related scenarios commonly seen by medical students and junior doctors in the emergency department, outpatient clinic, or on the ward. A succinct summary of the patient’s history, examination, and initial investigations―including photographs where relevant―is followed by questions on the diagnosis and management of each case. The answer includes a detailed discussion on each topic, with further illustration where appropriate, providing an essential revision aid as well as a practical guide for students and junior doctors.
Making speedy and appropriate clinical decisions, and choosing the best course of action to take as a result, is one of the most important and challenging parts of training to become a doctor. These true-to-life cases will teach students and junior doctors to recognize important obstetric and gynaecological conditions, and to develop their diagnostic and management skills.

User Reviews
This book was concise enough to read as a review text for mrcog, with detailed information suitable for a resident’s level. The sbas cover a wide range of topics from the mrcog syllabus. In my last month of preparation this was the only book I used, in order to have clear, reliable information at my finger tips and suitable questions to test myself. I used it in conjunction with my other question banks. The price is quite reasonable, so I took a chance on this book and it paid off!
Good details, nice pictures and succint explanations.

User Reviews
you know, this book isn’t half bad. It’s a little simple in places, but overall it’s a straightforward look at those crucial weeks before birth. Screening tests? They’re here, and explained. Guidelines? Perhaps not absolutely current, but you can get those from the Internet. This gives you an understanding of what happens, rather than slavishly following a protocol that happens to be in vogue currently.
Recommended for all with an interest in the antenatal stage: medical students, doctors, student midwives, and even the public.

User Reviews
I’ve only had this book for 3 weeks. The images/pictures are poorly labeled (e.g. structures of reproductive organs in chapter 4). I have to look up most of the terms/structures because they are mentioned in the book, however, they are not labeled in the pictures. Very time consuming and frustrating especially for someone who is not familiar with the topic. I am not sure as to why our school recommended this book.
Good Book easy read, short chapters. Would’ve like more in-depth questions that come online.

I just got this book and started using it to review for Nurse Practitioner Certification. I wish I had known about this book a year ago. Would have saved me many hand cramps from writing out my own notecards. This is a well organized, well structured book. I’m sure I’ll still reference it during my practice. My only “complaint” is that even thought it lists treatments, it doesn’t list any dosage. Just the name of the medication. That’s okay. I’ll write in the dosage. Sometimes just knowing the med is the majority of the battle. I guess they didn’t want to list dosages because some meds are weight based, but there are standard dosages from some situations. Oh well. I’m still quite pleased. Ending buying almost the entire series.
I have lots of the Deja Review titles because they are great for getting a good foundation before diving into detailed lectures or textbooks. This one, however, proved a little more challenging to trudge through because it often had too much detail. Overall a good book, but I’m still looking for something that focuses on the high points a little more.

I love the Step-up series as I find it easier to study in the bullet point format. I like the clinical pearls on the sides, pointing to the real important parts. I am a Nurse-Midwife student and I really like this book.
I read this because I hate Case Files, and I got what I wanted: nice, easy to read, concise review. Might be too detailed.
