Clinical Vignettes for The USMLE Step 1 Pdf Ebook Download

Features

PreTest is the closest you can get to seeing the test before you take it. Great last-minute preparation for the USMLE Step 1! PreTest Clinical Vignettes for the USMLE Step 1 is a compilation of 322 clinical vignette questions covering high-yield topics across the basic sciences.

This comprehensive practice exam provides you with the perfect vehicle for assessing your knowledge before taking the USMLE Step 1.

  • 7 blocks of 46 clinical vignette-style questions–just like the actual exam
  • Student tested and reivewed
  • 322 USMLE Step 1 multiple-choice questions and answers
  • Explanations for right and wrong answers
  • All answers referenced to core texts and journals

Description of Clinical Vignettes for the USMLE Step 1

The pros: 322 questions that traverse the majority of the material learned in the first two years of medical school. Questions vary from “gimme’s” to “that’s ludicrous, do we really need to know that?” It does get your mind turning because questions are completely random in order, requiring you to move from topic to topic. There are many contributors to this book, so question formats are unique and explanations are varied… thus we enter

The cons: The many contributors lead some questions and explanations to being quite difficult yet educational, while others fail to proofread their questions and answers. This leads to a lot of head scratching and searching your texts to verify that they are, indeed, wrong. In the long run, this will help to fortify your knowledge of the material, but for a review source like this one, it is asinine to think the editors could miss so many mistakes.

User Reviews

I have to say that I enjoy most of the PreTest books, and even after all the mistakes in this one, I still enjoy it for quick review and keeping you on your feet during test preparation. I hope that the 6th edition will update some of the questions and fix the mistakes that riddle the 5th.

Description of First Aid for the USMLE Step 1 2018 PDF 28th Edition

This is an outstanding comprehensive update. the 2017 version and the 2017 to 2018 update is much more drastic than 2016 to 2017 was. There are updates to a large number of images and tables. An example is the glaucoma drugs that are now nicely fit into a table unlike in the 2017 version. There are also updates that have been found in the 2018 version that have annotated into the 2017 version from UWorld. The infant/child development chart is now in its appropriate place, the reproductive section rather than public health sciences as in 2017. These are only but a few examples and there are many such changes and updates. A great and welcome update to an already amazing resource.

User Reviews

  1. Use this book as a way to check off the things that you need to learn – it should not be used as a primary source for your learning. As you go through topics in school, take notes in the relevant sections in First Aid. Watch Osmosis, Kaplan, DIT, Boards and Beyond, etc. and annotate throughout first and second year of medical school. Use Sketchy and annotate the book too.
  2. One of the single best board prep resources around. I had the 2016 version prior to purchasing the new 2018 version and there is so much added content. The pages are sturdy and smooth to write on. The pictures are vibrant. I love love love this book.

Introduction:

Preparing for and doing well on the USMLE exams are essential requirements on the road to becoming a practicing physician. This guidebook is intended to help you with that process. The suggestions offered here come from two sources: / ) the Kaplan faculty and 2) thousands of students who are eager to let you know what worked and what did not work for them as they prepared for the USMLE.

This guidebook contains concrete information and guidance, not tricks or gimmicks. More than 30 years of experience tells us that there is no magic way to help you achieve your best performance. Rather, we offer here some practical suggestions to help you make the most of your preparation time and to avoid common pitfalls in the exam itself. Preparing for and taking multiple-choice tests are skills in their own right. These skills have little to do with the day-to-day practice of medicine but are necessary hurdles that you must overcome to advance your medical career.

Of course, how you prepare for and handle your exam are up to you. You may have your own methods of study, or a way of taking the exam with which you are more comfortable. This book is not intended as a rigid prescription to which everyone must adhere. But it does summarize the key study and test strategies that have helped thousands of students achieve their maximum score. As you read this guide, take some time and think about the way you study and take exams. Look at your habits and make changes that can make a substantial difference in your score. Use this as a chance to improve your study methods and exam skills as you focus on improving your knowledge base. Consider all of your options carefully and make the choices that work best for you.

Take heart, there have been many ahead of you. The USMLE Step 1 is not insurmountable. It only requires some knowledge of techniques, a little planning, persistence, a dash of impertinence, and, above all, patience. By sharing the accumulated knowledge of the many students who have gone before you, we hope to prepare you to do your very best and to achieve a score that matches your goals.
I hope you find this book useful.AZON
