bulegila “Each chapter consists of a litany of definitions with a few black-and-white graphics added. At first I thought it was a serious book because it contains references. I realized later that the references are almost entirely citations of various dictionaries, including online-only dictionaries that I’ve never heard of, as well as citations of other textbooks and various non-peer-reviewed editorials in obscure journals. The chapters are very short and cursory. It is pretty much useless. Even the preface of the book makes clear that it is written for people with no background in science. What the book doesn’t mention is that it’s written in an incredibly lazy way. By far the worst textbook I’ve ever read. Do not waste your money on this piece of garbage.”

Amazon Customer “I bought the kindle version of this book because the physical version was either $124 (no way am I paying that) or sold out. I needed this for class. Giving only 2 stars because I paid the same price for the kindle version as I would have for the physical version but all through the book figures and images are missing due to “copyright restrictions”. I PAID FOR THE BOOK.

TOTAL RIP OFF.

Now I’m going to have to shell out ANOTHER $70 bucks so I can get the rest of the information.”

Luna Tuesday “So… I purchased this with the expectation that it would be the complete book. Imagine my surprise when several figures were “removed due to copyright restrictions”. You CANNOT sell a book as a complete book when parts of it are taken out. Amazon should be ashamed.”

Mariah “I’ve used this for 2 classes, one undergrad and one grad. I like that I was able to use it for more than one class and the information is still relevant. The third edition is available now.”

MrHonest “This is an amazing book. Ignore the bad reviews. You do not have to agree with 100% of the book in order to gain a lot of good knowledge. There is a ton of great information in this book. I would highly recommend it. People always tell me how happy my kids are. They also are always amazed when they hear that they have been sleeping about 8 hours a night since 8-12 weeks old. Honestly the schedule is life changing. The main thing this book is going to do is help you understand your baby. It builds a lot of confidence in that. The more you understand your baby, the more you can mould the schedule to fit their individual needs.”

Willene “I’m only on chapter 2 and already so annoyed. There are so many writing errors that I am legitimately struggling to get through this book. Random capitalization, punctuation that makes no sense, and the rambling! Yikes! I can barely focus on the content because I get so distracted by the writing errors and have to skim to find the parts that are relevant. I’m disheartened I actually paid for this.”

A cornerstone of emergency medicine training is the constant drilling and re-drilling of simulated cases and clinical scenarios. This book offers a unique yet underutilized strategy for learning: a case-based approach from real patients and actual events. Each case provides the opportunity for learning essential clinical concepts. Focused exclusively on the needs of in-training emergency physicians and nurses, the book (Clinical emergency medicine casebook pdf) covers more than 100 common and unusual cases in emergency medicine. Editiorial Review

“The greatest strength is the quality of the visuals integrated throughout the presentations. Numerous pictures, radiographs, and ECGs are presented and the quality is outstanding. The important finding of each visual is clear for the reader to see. I have never found this to be so consistently present in other texts. Often the visual aid is of such poor quality that even after the diagnosis is known, the finding cannot be seen. The presentations are strengthened by the visual content, and the best result is increased retention from the reader of the differential and correct diagnosis. In conclusion, a great case presentation book filled with useful information for students, residents, and even the most experienced clinician is finally available.”

User Reviews

  1. The case presentation format of this text is a great way to learn — it catches my attention and keeps it since each summary is short and sweet. I enjoyed the diagnostic challenge of each case and the immediate gratification of each case review. There are photos, lab results, xrays and EKGs for each presentation to help bring the cases to life. It’s more fun than opening a textbook and reading through each condition. Great choice of cases and very nicely written with attention to detail. This will be a nice addition to your library, especially if you’re tired of the same old Tintanelli and Rosen. The cases are bread and butter, with a twist, so you can buff up on your differentials. Entertainment like no other. Great job!
  2. I use this book to prepare topics of discussion in our clinical group and for teaching emergency medicine. The patietns are real and as such the clues are not “text book” perfect. Thus the Dx might be the second or third on your DDX. The topic are covered well, the explainations are clear.

Campbell Biology 10th Edition PDF download

Campbell BIOLOGY has been the leading college text in the biological sciences for the last quarter century. It has been translated into dozens of languages, and its eleventh edition is now available. The text is renowned for its clear and concise writing, engaging art program, and sound scientific coverage. Campbell BIOLOGY provides students with a comprehensive view of biology, from molecules to ecosystems, while retaining a focus on the unifying themes of evolution, genetics, and ecology. Our goals for the Tenth Edition include:
• helping students make connections visually across the diverse topics of biology
• giving students a strong foundation in scientific thinking and quantitative reasoning skills
• inspiring students with the excitement and relevance of modern biology, particularly in the realm of genomics Our starting point, as always, is our commitment to crafting text and visuals that are accurate, are current, and reflect our passion for teaching and learning about biology.

What’s new

A brief inspection reveals the addition of a HUGE number of new diagrams and pictures which improve the clarity of many, many concepts. As usual, great for any medical student getting ready for Step 1. As naturopathic medical students, we often use this 792-page bible to prepare for our first licensing exam and, no doubt, the entire cohort will be acquiring this bad boy.

Some new diagrams/pictures include:
1) Mutations in DNA
2) Protein synthesis
3) Autosomal trisomies
4) Ethanol metabolism
5) Immunology was restructured and it reads more logically
6) Endo vs exotoxins
7) HIV diagnosis algorithm – GREAT diagram.
8) Some additions about the immunology of cancer (v. important) – can be found in the general pathology section
9) Hematology and oncology – rearranged order plus great diagrams about hematopoiesis, pro- and anticoagulation
10) MSK – lovely diagrams about radiculopathy
11) Very nice additions to the neuro section, e.g. lower extent of spinal cord
12) Some handy photos of real-life examples of embryo pathologies
13) Illustrations on the gonadal drainage
14) GI – more histological slides and embryo photos
15) Lots of diagrams in cardio/respiratory to complement the text, e.g. blood supply of myocardium
16) Many other minor tweaks.
